Penis Enlargement Procedures

Penis enlargement or male enhancement procedures are set of techniques described as ways in adding length, girth, and other kinds of improvement to the human penis. In today’s advertising, penis enlargement procedures have been a bit mixed-up when it comes to reliability because of some fraudulent products.

Many available penis enlargement procedures have been popping out like mushrooms in the market ranging from penis exercises to surgical operations. Each of these products has their share of either success, failure, or both. These are not simply allegations but based on actual reports and testimonials from satisfied and unsatisfied customers.

Since there are reports regarding the failures of some of the known penis enlargement procedures whether it is surgical or non-surgical, some people have become skeptical. However, there are also a lot of testimonials that could balance some negative reports which shows proof that some of the products, procedures and brands for male enhancements have worked successfully.

Male enhancement procedures can be classified into surgical and non-surgical methods. Surgical methods to enhance the human penis are generally termed as “phalloplasty” which usually improves the length and girth of the penis permanently. On the other hand, non-surgical methods are commonly self-applied techniques for male enhancement which involves the use of penile devices, topical creams, medications, or exercises.

Penis Enlargement Surgery

Basically, penis enlargement or male enhancement surgery is the augmentation of the penis using surgical procedure. This kind of method is proven to effectively increase the size of the penis permanently. Although this can be a dream come true to all men who are seeking for a larger penis, some risks may still occur by undergoing the process.

In this technique of male enhancement, there are two common procedures: penis lengthening or adding length to the penis and penis widening or adding girth to the penis. For many years now, these surgical procedures are legally existing and available with many success stories from certain patients. But though results have become successful, the technique hasn’t attained perfection yet.

In today’s modern phalloplasty, people who believe in the procedure are confident that this is the only hope for permanent increase in penis length and girth. Through surgical procedures, the penis length can be increased to more or less 1 inch.

One of the surgeon techniques in making this possible is by cutting the ligaments which hold the penis which causes it to point vertically upwards. After surgery, the patient is usually advises the patient to use weights or stretching devices for months in order to give the penis the final effect of permanent size increase.

Dermal implant is another technique that surgeons use especially to add thickness or girth to the penis body. Both girth and length can be increased through this technique by means of fat cells transplant coming from the patient’s other body parts. Some people find the appearance of the penis after the procedure to be unusual since the glans cannot be thickened surgically.

Penis enhancement surgery can be an option to any man depending on different reasons. Some men may want to have it just to have a larger penis while some may want it for therapeutic reasons. It may also be out of a man’s curiosity as long as they can pay the right price.

Types of Penis Enlargement Surgery

Basically, the types of surgery can be classified into two major areas: girth and length enhancements. This depends on what specific type of enhancement the patient wants where some are more than enlarging the penis size. Here are the common procedures that patients want for the enhancement of their penis.

  • Length improvement or penis lengthening surgery
  • Penis widening surgery or girth increase surgery
  • Surgery to enhance the girth
  • Penile size rectification (reconstruction of the penis can be detailed)
  • Penile implants to increase size
  • Erectile Dysfunction (ED) treatment surgery
  • Curvature correction for better erection (especially for men with Peyronie’s disease)

Penis Enlargement Surgery – Length

What you see outside hanging in the pubic area is not actually the entire penis. About half or one-thirds of its part extends inside the body which is attached to the pubic bone undersurface. In this procedure called ligamentolysis, the release of fundiform and suspensory ligaments are commonly involved because basically, this method can visually increase the penis length. When a penis erects pointing severely in a vertically upwards manner, release of those ligaments can give substantial addition in penis length which will make the penis to erect straighter and more parallel to the floor or even hung. After the surgery, treatments after the operation are given to the patient, which includes the use of penis stretchers to support the effects of lengthening after cutting the ligament attachments. Stretching will prevent the ligaments to heal shorter than required. Men who failed to use the penis stretchers have become dissatisfied with the results.

Aside from ligamentolysis, other ways of surgically lengthening the penis is through real means which involves adding to the corporal bodies. This requires expertise because of the high risk involved that might cause erection issues and other problems to the patient. It can only be safe when penile prostheses is implanted which are usually done to treat erectile dysfunction or Peyronie’s disease.

Common practice of penile lengthening only commonly uses the techniques of ligamentolysis, skin redistribution, and pubic area liposuction. But other than those mentioned, surgeons can only give more outside exposure of the penis body in obese patients and patients with penile skin deformities.

Penis Enlargement Surgery – Girth

Widening of the penis involves the injection of allowed penis thickeners such as PMMA and silicone into the penis and scrotum. According to a penis augmentation study, the results of their research tell that surgical methods to thicken the penis are more effective than that of lengthening methods of surgery. In this study where a number of men participated, amazing differences of before and after girth measurements in the flaccid and erect states were recorded. The flaccid circumference average increased from 3.1 to 4.1 inches while the erect circumference was measured from an average of 4.1 to 4.8 inches. But despite the success of this technique, the medical experts always remind patients that the result is irreversible and may have side-effects such as inability to penetrate during sex, loss of sensation, deformed penis, and scarring.

Autologous tissue engineering has also been developed to help in the world of surgery to thicken the penis. In this technique, biodegradable scaffolds are used which makes it safe and effective having low morbidity, high reproducibility, and low incidence of after-operations complications. According to the European Urology 2006 journal, this technique has also been used for correcting penile deformities and dysmorphic disorder. Compared to lengthening surgery, autologous tissue engineering has garnered a higher score for being very good and excellent when it comes to results with most patients gaining 1.6 inches permanent gain in girth. Autologous tissue engineering is considered safer than implants or injection of foreign bodies like silicone or Alloderm since it leaves no foreign tissue residues around the penis.

The use of AlloDerm as injection to the penis for widening is becoming popular. However, this substance is being regulated by the FDA at present neither for filling voids nor for cosmetic augmentation. The manufacturer itself does not recommend AlloDerm for any penis enlargement phalloplasty and warned them that they do not promote AlloDerm for such procedures. AlloDerm is also known as “treated flesh of cadavers.”

A surgical method for using Silicone implant used in increasing the length and girth of the penis has been approved by the FDA in 2002 and was developed by Beverly Hills urologists in California. In this method, soft silicone covered with a mesh is inserted inside the penile skin and corpora where it stays there and adds both length and thickness to the penis. This method can increase up to 1.5 to 2.5 inches both in length and girth. Surgery procedure may last about 1 hour or less at an outpatient surgery center and recovery can be fully attained after six to eight weeks. However, the patient can undergo light activities after 3 to 5 days of the operation.

One of the advantages of the silicone implant is that it can increase the length of the penis as it stays inside it. So without the use of penis stretchers and pumps, the weight of the silicone itself is enough to pull the penis overtime which will add length by stretching the suspensory ligaments. Another advantage of this option over AlloDerm and fat fillers is that it is not absorbed by the skin and it can be removed.

Penis Enlargement Surgery – Inflatable Penis Implants

Men with severe cases of impotence find this as the primary treatment for their penile disorder. In this method, inflatable penile implants are used to replace the two corpora cavernosa.  In order to achieve erection by using the hands, a pump is implanted near the groin or scrotum so that the implant can easily be manipulated for erection. What’s amazing about the result of this surgery is that the patient can attain instant erection anytime while the disadvantage of this is that it is irreversible.

Cost of Penis Enlargement Surgery

One of the challenges that you have to overcome in this type of penis enlargement methods compared to others is that it really costs a lot. Whether it is penile widening, lengthening, or any enhancement, it will cost from $4,000 to $17,000.

Potential Complication Associated with Penis Enlargement Surgery

Before taking surgery into consideration, critical thinking is needed since doctors always remind the risks and dangers associated with phalloplasty. Cosmetic surgery for the penis requires understanding that potential complications may occur after the operations. It is also highly recommended that an experienced licensed surgeon must perform the surgery. Making sure about the credibility of the surgery team is the best thing to know first. With a successful surgery, the patient will enjoy the benefits of enhanced penis and even cure penis disorders and dysfunctions.

Here is a summary of the most common complications and potential risks associated with penile surgery. These complications may either be psychological or physical or both.

  • Not everyone is satisfied with penile surgery. It is because some of the unsatisfied patients did not get the results that they expected. Others take surgery as a way to cure penile disorder and do not get the treatment that they expect.

  • The fantasy of longing for a larger penis may cause anxiety or depression once the operation is not successful or inadequate.

  • An incompetent surgeon may cause some damage to the penis by using wrong techniques.

  • Post-operative infections may occur.

  • Nerve damage and tissue damage may occur.

  • Anesthesia side-effects may cause additional problems.

  • Swelling and bleeding may be experienced by the patient even after the operation is performed.

  • As a result of the incision, some patients may suffer from infections.

  • Some men suffered from pain and other types of discomfort especially during erection.

  • Penis may be discolored or scarred.

Non-surgical Methods of Penis Enlargement

Products and devices have become available all over the market and the Internet which allows men to use self-applied methods of penis enlargement. Here are some of today’s popular ways of increasing the size of the penis without undergoing surgery. But some of these methods may be as equally dangerous as the surgical ones although some can also be effective and safe.

Cosmetic techniques – trimming the pubic hair around the penis can make it appear bigger.
Penis enlargement pills – herbal products which contain minerals and other safe substances that can improve erection and semen volume can also make the penis bigger in long time of use.
Penis pumps – this device uses the vacuum technique which gives pressure to the penis to induce erection.
Stretching – there are devices that stretch the penis and allow the tissues to regenerate. Aside from devices available, there are also penile exercises with routines about stretching the penis to add size to it.
Jelqing – a penis enlargement exercise routine which is comparable to milking a cow.
Clamping – some people use cable clamps as a part of routines to increase their penis size.
Hanging – using weights, the penis is pulled downwards in order to increase length over time.
